Stable app for horse shares and the team: stable day, mucking-out plan, sharing the horse
With Friends4horses, owners share their horse by code with the share rider, family and trainer. Everyone sees the same stable day – who feeds, mucks out and turns out today, who’s on it right now and what’s already done. The mucking-out plan sets who mucks out on which weekday, and arranging cover takes one tap. Sharing, the stable day and the mucking-out plan are free.
For iPhone. The Android app isn’t on Google Play yet.
How do I share my horse?
- On the horse, choose “Share” and set the role: co-manager or helper.
- The app creates a code. It’s valid for seven days and can only be used once.
- The share rider signs in with their Friends4 account (or creates one in the app) and enters the code.
Everyone only sees the horse you share. You can change or end roles at any time; you can hand ownership over to a co-manager.
Who can do what?
| Role | can |
|---|---|
| Owner | everything, including sharing, handing over and deleting – exactly one per horse |
| Co-manager | read and write the health record, create and assign tasks, tick off, see all rides |
| Helper | see the horse and the feeding plan, tick off tasks assigned to them or to nobody, their own rides |
Health data is only visible to the roles allowed to read the record. This is checked on the server, not just in the app.
The stable day as a team
Feeding, mucking out, turnout, training, farrier, vet: tasks for every day, repeating daily, weekly on certain days or monthly. Every task is open, in progress or done – “in progress” shows who’s on it and since when, so that two people don’t do the same thing in a shared yard. Responsibility goes to one person or to “everyone”. The “All tasks” view shows the next two weeks for all horses, filterable by status, by horse and “assigned to me”.
For a feeding task, the ration from the feeding plan is shown right next to it – so even whoever is covering feeds correctly.
How does the mucking-out plan work?
On the stable day, the owner or a co-manager sets who mucks out on each weekday, with a time if you like. Each day then appears on that person’s stable day and calendar and reminds them on their phone. If someone can’t make it, the owner or a co-manager gives the day to another person as cover – up to two months ahead. A changed plan applies from tomorrow; what has already been ticked off today stays.
A helper sees the whole plan and ticks off their days, but doesn’t hand on any days – otherwise a day would land with someone who never agreed to it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share my horse with my share rider?
You invite them with a code, as a co-manager or as a helper. Everyone only sees the horse you share; health data is only visible to the roles allowed to read the record.
Does my share rider see what I spend on the horse?
No. In the cost book everyone only sees their own entries. The owner also sees what others have entered for them on their horse, and an agreed contribution is only visible to them and the person who pays.
What happens when someone leaves the stable team?
When their access ends, their tasks go back to “everyone”, their upcoming days in the mucking-out plan disappear and a running contribution in the cost book stops. What they have already ticked off stays.
Does sharing cost money?
No. Sharing the horse, the stable day, responsibilities and the mucking-out plan are free – a shared horse has to be looked after safely, and that isn’t hidden behind a subscription. If the owner has Friends4horses Plus, it also applies to the share rider on their horse.
